A.D.A.M. SA (Applications of Detector and Accelerators to Medicine) is working on the R&D
and production of accelerators for medical applications. It is a research company, inspired by
CERN and a subsidiary of Advanced Oncotherapy plc (“AVO”). A.D.A.M SA is head-quartered
in Meyrin/Switzerland. A.D.A.M SA is involved in a hadron cancer-therapy project to build the
linear proton accelerator LIGHT (Linac for Image Guided Hadron Therapy). LIGHT’s proton
energies range from 70 MeV to 230 MeV and its beam properties are ideally suited for the

The A.D.A.M. SA Physics Group is seeking a talented Beam Transfer Line Specialist with
experience in beam dynamics simulations, machine optimization and beam commissioning.
The position requires a proven experience in the design of beam transfer lines (definition of
lattice specifications, beam error studies, machine integration studies) as well as in machine
commissioning and operation.
The successful candidate will join the Physics Group which is part of the A.D.A.M. SA
Technical Team responsible for the design and commissioning of the full accelerator complex
including proton injector, linac and transfer lines to treatment rooms.

Main activities:
• Perform conceptual and technical design of novel beam transfer system for new
projects and based on advanced concepts
• Perform beam dynamics simulations studies on proton transfer lines (including error
studies, simulation and optimization of beam losses) for different machine
• Participate to the installation, commissioning, and operation of beam transfer lines
• Perform beam measurements and data analysis
• Write technical reports and technical documentation
• Master’s degree/ PhD in Physics or equivalent
• Experience in particle tracking, optics modeling, beam dynamics simulations and
analysis with single and multi-particle simulation codes (like MAD-X, MAD-X PTC,
Trace3D, Travel…)
• Previous experience in accelerator commissioning and operations
• Previous experience in machine optimization
• Use of programming language (Python, Matlab, Octave…)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good problem-solving skills: analyzing the problems and proposing sound solutions
• Communicating effectively: expressing ideas, opinions and suggestions in a clear
and structured way
• Good level of spoken and written English with the ability to draw up technical
• Willingness to travel according to the business needs and responsibilities assigned
Following additional skills and experience are advantageous:
• Experience with the construction and installation of gantries/beam transfer lines
