We are excited to be offering a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our Team at Fletchers Bakery in Sheffield
To ensure the technical integrity of Fletchers, providing advice and support across the business unit as the Technical Manager. To run the day to day operation of the technical department with assistance from the Compliance Manager.
Role Key Accountabilities
Quality Management System:To lead, review and manage the site Quality Management System. Providing support and guidance to other departmental areas where necessary.Have robust plans in place to proactively manage quality, through taste panels etc, Manage Fletchers internal audit system, To write and review all technical policy guidelines and approve all amendments to the quality management system and checking that all manuals located throughout the company are correctly maintained, Ensuring the technical integrity of the manufacturing operations.
Legal Requirements: To ensure that legislative, business and customer requirements are implemented / adhered to through regular checking and challenging.
Supplier Assurance:To ensure that the supplier assurance system is carried out in line with the expected / required standards.Ensure current list of ingredients and suppliers to business is maintained.Specifications are maintained, signed and up to date, Direct contact with suppliers regarding any technical issues, Management of QADEX through the Raw Materials Technologist, Management of the Raw Materials Technologist.
VACCP/TACCP: Develop and maintain the site VACCP / TACCP plans ensuring compliance to both internal (FFG) and external bodies (customer).
Analysis Testing: Ensure all out of specification results are followed up and investigated., An example of testing can include is any of the following micro, nutritional, allergen etc, Ensure samples are tested at the required frequency and to customer specification.
Allergen Management: Develop and maintain the site Allergen Management System ensuring safe, legal and customer compliance.
Customer Complaints: To actively drive a reduction in both numbers and CPMU.
HACCP: Ensure food safety is paramount throughout the business through HACCP, Ensure HACCP is maintained for all products across site, and reviewed as a minimum annually including CCP and pre requisite validation and verification, Manage the on site HACCP as HACCP team leader.
QA Team Management:Directly manage and support to site based QA team. Including managing staff performance and development, Ensuring structures and skills are developed to meet changing business requirements and Identifying training and development needs within team, To ensure that the paperwork, systems and training is in place to carry out the necessary on-line QA checks in line with QMS.
Factory Standards: To drive excellent factory standards throughout the business, through GMP and audit, Work with business unit team to continually improve plant and product standards, and identify opportunities for technical innovation, Provide expertise and support on process issues, identifying opportunities for improvements and supporting any required changes, Contribute and support key business projects, Maintain the sites Allergen Management Systems ensuring compliance with customer’s requirements, Product and process quality standards are developed and maintained, in order to meet customer expectations, Provide information and reports to the BU as and when required, Ensure that Health and Safety is at the forefront of all the tasks carried out by the Technical team.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience;
- Experience and competency in a production environment
- Computer literate including basic use of company’s business software packages
- Understanding of practical application of Production, technical, HR and safety processes and procedures including working practices pertaining to the site
- People management skills (e.g. counseling, disciplinary, training needs)
- Planning and organising skills
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to evaluate and respond appropriately
- Communication skills, verbal and written including presentation skills and report writing
- Numeracy skills including basic data analysis and interpretation
- Knowledge of organisational structure, roles and responsibilities
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
- Intermediate food hygiene certificate
